Khanty-Mansiysk/RU, Concert and Theatre Center „Ugra-Classic“
Khanty-Mansy autonomous okrug – Ugra is situated in the center of West Siberia (Russia). “Ugra” is the ancient (historical) name of that land. It occupies the territory of 535 thousand sq.km, which is almost equal to the territory of France.

Ugra of today is one of the most stable and developed region of Russian Federation. Year by year Ugra is acknowledged not only as a key oil and industrial region but also as one of the most dynamically developing Russian centers of business activity, great sports, culture and tourism.
The administrative center of the okrug is Khanty-Mansiysk, a boom town – now a city, situated at the watersmeet of two great Russian rivers – Ob and Irtysh. The distance from Khanty-Mansiysk to Moscow is 2050 km (3 hours by plane). The peculiarities of Khanty-Mansiysk are seven hills covered with the picturesque coniferous forest which is of great attraction for visitors.
A lot of guests visit the city of Khanty-Mansiysk. The recent Russia - EU Summit 2008 was held in Khanty-Mansiysk in June, 2008. Some regional and international festivals, e.g. the Ecological Television Festival “Save and Preserve”, the annual International Festival of Film Debut “Spirit of Fire”, become traditional.
Khanty-Mansiysk was the place of the 2003 Biathlon World Championships, and in 2005 the first Mixed Biathlon Relay took place here. The city also hosted the 2005 and 2007 World Chess Cups. The 38-th Chess Olympiad will take place in Khanty-Mansiysk in 2010.
The cultural life in the area is centered around the Concert&Theatre Centre “Ugra-Classic”. It is a unique and multi-functional complex, one of the best in Russia, where it is possible to carry out various projects, starting with the chamber concerts and finishing the international summits. Equipped with all the modern facilities.
«Ugra-Classic» looks like a large two-storeyed ship with the total floor area of 20 000 square m. The exterior of the Center was designed in hi-tech style by a group of Moscow architects. The project was rewarded with the silver diploma at the architectural exhibition in Bulgaria, 2003.
It has four halls (Grand hall, recital hall, conference hall and transformer studio), spacious lobby, restaurant “Amadeus” and “Viennese café”. Inside the Center there is also its own hotel for 30 rooms as well as a sheltered parking area for 100 cars.
The interior of the Center is elegant. The light brown and beige colors of the walls and soft gold lightning go well together. Some columns are decorated with the onyx semi-precious stone.
